Is dealing with stress a challenge for you? Products to help deal with stress seem to be everywhere. On TV and radio and the Internet, it seems that messages about living longer, looking younger and how to deal with stress are all we ever hear about these days. Store shelves are full of products that are guaranteed to stop aging, help you deal with stress or give you eternal youth.
The well-known economist, Paul Zane Pilzer, wrote a book in 2002 called, “The Wellness Revolution, The Next Trillion Dollar Industry.” At that time, he predicted the amount people would be spending on wellness products by the year 2010 would equal what they spend on food. That is a lot of money. Well, 2010 passed a while ago and it turns out Mr. Pilzer was more than correct. The wellness industry has definitely become a trillion dollarindustry.
Businesses have been and will continue to work overtime trying to come up with the latest and the greatest to get you to spend your hard-earned dollars on THEIR products.
So what do you do? How do you decide? Should you buy “this” product or “that” product? How much do you need? And what about that other product your friend told you about? Maybe you should take that one instead. After all, if you don’t take care of your health and wellness, who will? All the choices make your head spin. You can’t decide. The whole thing makes you crazy and then you feel even more stressed.
You Need a System for Managing Health and Wellness Information Overload
What you need is a system. A system will help you make decisions about dealing with stress, health and general wellness, it will help you gather and weed through the information overload and it will help get you organized and prioritize. It doesn’t have to be complicated, but a system will go a long way to helping you sort the good from the bad, so you can make better decisions.
A good system would help you decide what to do first, given that most of us have limited time and money. There are so many possibilities, after all. For example, do you get more exercise, balance your hormones, strengthen your immune system, lose weight, buy a stress reduction program, get a biofeedback analysis, start a hobby or do you just get out there and have more fun.
Whatever efforts you make to become better at dealing with stress and learning about health and wellness, a system will make it easier. So, get out those colored pencils and paper and do up a mind map to get started.
How to Build a Mind Map for Dealing with Stress from Information Overload
First, draw a circle in the middle of the page and write “Dealing With Stress” or maybe you could write “Take Back Control of My Health and My Life and then branch off from there. Draw as many branches & bubbles from the main, central circle as you need to write down all you ideas and plans for how to deal with stress. Make other mind maps for other health and wellness issues.
And use lots of different colors and imagery (draw little pictures) to make it even more appealing and interesting.
Once you get all the information down on paper, you will be far more able to decide what to tackle first. Good luck!
